In less than a fortnight, teams from all over Asia will converge in Macau to participate in high-level 3on3 debates at the 2011 United Asian Debating Championships hosted by the University of Macau in cooperation with the Government of Macau.

In a message sent to the Asian debate community, Nicole Ng (Convener), sent a number of reminders to the participants.  debateIndonesia is replicating these reminders, for the information of the teams:

1. Shuttle Bus Services  - Most participants arrive on May 16. As such, the Transportation Group has arranged for pick-up points from Macau's three main ports, en route to the hotels. The buses will making hourly pick-ups (from 1000 hrs to 2200 hrs).  The three main ports are:

Arrival Port
Gathering Point
Macau International Airport
Arrival Gate
Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal
(Macau Peninsula)
Information Desk of the Macao Government Tourist Office
Border Gate

Participants need only look for UADC participants in light green shirts.
For those who cannot avail of the hourly shuttle services, taxis at any of the ports can be taken to the hotel.  Usual fares from any of the ports to the hotels would be no more than 100 Macau Pocatas (USD$1 = MOP8).

2. Accommodation - Participants will be billeted at 4 hotels; Indonesian participants will be staying at the Grandview Hotel, whilst the adjudication core, tab director and subsidised adjudicators will stay at the Best Western Hotel Taipa.

3. Volunteers wanted for Opening Night Ceremonies - The organisers are calling on talented participants to shed their reservations and come on stage to render a few numbers on Opening Night.  Those interested can get in touch with Flora Pan at florapanziyang@gmail.com no later than 7th May 2011.

4. Prayer Rooms - Muslim prayer rooms will be made available during the tournament.
5. Catering - Halal and vegetarian food will be served.
6. Socials/Dress Code  - Full formal/traditional dresses will be the order of the day for the Opening and Closing ceremonies which will be held at the Plaza Restaurant and Macau Tower respectively.

As for the break night, teams will dress up to the theme of Naughty School Days

7. Weather - Temperature in Macau is predicted to be between 25C to 33C; summer clothes are recommended, but since the debates will be held indoors, a jacket to protect against the cold could be of use.
