2011 Macau UADC - Round 2 Motions, Delays Continue

Privacy and Intellectual PropertyRound 2 motions were an interesting mix of privacy and IP issues.
19th May 2011

Long delays between Rounds 1 and 2 threatened Day 2 as technical difficulties continued to hound the Tab Room which delayed the start of Round 2 and eventually forced the hand of the organisers and the A-Core to postpone Round 3 to today.

It was revealed that the reason for the technical difficulties, earlier thought of to be due to the increase in the point spread margin from 12 points to 15 points, was because the itab program being used was designed to run for a tournament cap 100 teams. There are currently 102 competing teams registered at the 2011 Macau UADC.
The Tab Room had to get in touch with the programmer in the United States to resolve the matter, which required a modification of the program's source code.

It was announced that teams will either have to debate 4 rounds today or 3 rounds tomorrow.

debateIndonesia wishes the Organising Committee, the A-Core and the Tab Room smooth-sailing today.

Thank you to Jozef Thenu for the updates, and Andrew W Sadeli for the photos!
