A few more hours are all that's left between now and the announcement of the Top 16 teams who made it to the Octofinal of the 2011 ALSA UI (high school and university level).
University teams tackled motions dealing with the environment and law today, which saw Rounds 4 and 5 happen in the early and late afternoon respectively.
Round 4 motions on the environment were:
M1 - THW establish a national disaster tax.
M2 - THW grant tax breaks to companies implementing green technologies.
M3 - THW resort to geo-engineering.

Round 5, the last of the preliminary rounds, used another set of pre-announced motions on law:
M1 - THW hold gun manufacturers liable for crimes committed by third parties using their guns.
M2 - THW stop plea bargaining in criminal courts (sic).
M3 - THBT Supreme Court justices should be democratically elected by society.
