2011 NUEDC Qualifying Rounds - Wilayah 3
Attendees at yesterday's Wilayah 3 briefing at the Kopertis 3 Cililitan offices were informed that the 3 preliminary rounds of the qualifying rounds will deploy 3 of the following 5 motions:
1. THBT underaged marriage should be legalised as long as it is in the name of religion.
2. THBT parents who are proven to have neglected their children's health should be penalised.
3. THBT Indonesia should implement is own national security act.
4. THW grant amnesty for dictators who step down peacefully.
5. THW not require a victim's consent in prosecuting cases of domestic violence.
The qualifying rounds are scheduled to happen this week, beginning the 26th of the month.
Note: We thank our reader, Ges.a, for pointing out the discrepancy in dates. The Qualifying Rounds for Wilayah 3 of the 2011 NUEDC are indeed from the 26th to the 28th of May, 2011.
To answer Ges.a's query - 'qualifying rounds' is a descriptive phrase referring to the initial phase of the NUEDC selection process. Not all institutions get a free pass to the national level competition, and must go through a regional selection process, where the emerging 8 teams per Wilayah (or, as was the case in the past 2 years, per Kopertis) proceed to the nationals.

NUEDC Kopertis 3 Update - Dates, Host Uni
Registered Kopertis 3 participants for this year's National Universities English Debate Championships (NUEDC) have received word that the Kopertis 3 qualifying rounds will be held from 26th to 28th May 2011 at the campus grounds of Atma Jaya University in Jakarta.
The technical meeting will be held on May 19, 2011, although the time, venue and breakdown of activities of both the technical meeting and qualifying rounds were not released, neither were details as to the composition of the Kopertis 3 Chief Adjudicator and his/her A-Core members.
The NUEDC is sponsored by the Directorate for Higher Education (DIKTI) of the Indonesian Ministry of Education. For the past two years, winners of the NUEDC national level are sent by DIKTI to the Worlds. This year might prove to be a challenge for NUEDC organisers, as a number of Indonesian universities (including a team using the name of 'DIKTI') did not manage to make it to the 400 allocated slots for Worlds participants.
