2011 SMU Hammers - Winners, Tabs

The 2011 SMU Hammers, acclaimed to be Singapore's largest gathering of 3on3 teams (Asian Parliamentary style), concluded last weekend.  

A team comprised of Imran Rahim, Robin Teo and Sadhana Tai won the weekend tournament, after going against NUS Dino comprised of Alvin Tan, Mark Cordiner, and Alex Yeo.

Here is the list of all teams as they progressed through the elimination round:

Seminfinalists: Tokyo (Shuvam Dhutta, Neha Prakash, Ang Wee Jian), Whateverla (Robin Luca, Clarissa Tio, Adrian)

Quarterfinalists: NUS 2 (Aji Abu, Marvin Loh, Ashok Rai), NUS 3 (Leejing Tan, Sanjiv Nair, Jun Sheng), Commodities (Alfred Goh, Hong Yu, Shih Yi An), SMU 2 (Ang Ziqing, Vikram Lakhotia, Urmila Mandapaka)

Octofinalists: SMU 1 (Andrea Soriano, Syed Arafat, Siraj Aziz), House of Zosa (Patrick Cocabo, Liane Aquino, Stephanie Tan), HCI JC 2 (Miverna Lim, Chelsea Chia, Joyan Tan), RI 3 (Eugene Phua, Gloria Cheung, Tan Zixiang), SP 1 (Dennis, Zhengkun, Andrew), SP2 (Jose, Amanda, Felicia), Tel Aviv (Shaq, Lee Ming Yuen, Omer Iqbal)

The top 5 Adjudicators of the tournament were: Raymund Vitorio, Anna Arcellana, Reuben Lopez, Tim Andrew, and Ray Singh.

2011 SMU Hammers Programme Flow, Subsidised Adjes released

Participants at this year's SMU Hammers received the programme flow for the 3on3 tournament early morning of 5 April 2011. The tournament is hosted annually by the Singapore Management University.

The 2011 SMU Hammers will be at the SMU campus from 6th to 8th May 2011, and interested teams can send email to smu.hammers.2011@gmail.com

6th May
5pm: Registration starts * 7pm: Adjudication and Debate Briefing
7.30pm: Motion 1 * 8pm: Debate #01 * 10pm: Debate ends

7th May
9am: Roll Call *10am: Motion 2 * 10.30am: Debate #02 * 12pm: Lunch
1.30pm: Motion 3 * 2pm: Debate #03 * 4 pm: Motion 4 * 4.30pm: Debate #04

UPDATE: Subsidised Adjudicators: In an email addressed to the Asian debate community dated 5 April 2011, Shrawan Saraogi, Chief Adjudicator of the 2011 SMU Hammers, informed the community that after careful deliberation from a list of strong candidates, this year's subsidised adjudicators are (in alphabetical order):

Anna Arcellana (UP Diliman),
Raymund Vitorio (UP Diliman), and
Ely Zosa (ADMU).

All three adjudicators are from two of the strongest Philippine debate institutions, and individually have achieved much both in national, regional and international debate circuits.
